A Flower and a Smile...
A hospital or nursing home room on a Friday afternoon. A Jewish patient or resident is wondering about Shabbos or has maybe forgotten about Shabbos altogether. Enter a smiling volunteer laden with red carnations and a cheerful "Good Shabbos!". All of a sudden the room is transformed and the heart of the patient or resident is warmed with a special glow... Electric tealights are also made available so that patients may perform the Mitzvah of kindling the Shabbos lights. Over the past 40 years this unique Mitzvah project has touched the hearts of thousands in our community.
You too can be part of this beautiful Mitzvah! By participating in our Shavuos Flower Sale you will be helping us continue this project. You will also decorate your home or the homes of those special to you with lovely flowers in honor of Shavuos (Sunday evening, May 16, through Tuesday night, May 18). In fact, the tradition of Shavuos flowers commemorates the flowers that blossomed on Mt. Sinai when we received the Torah 3,335 years ago.
This year we are offering a Designer Bouquet for $23. The flowers can be picked up at the Kessler Family Chabad Center, 1037 Winton Rd. S., on Tuesday, May 23, between 5-6 pm. The flowers can also be delivered to addresses in zip codes 14610, 14618 and 14620 for an additional $3, and part of your contribution is tax-deductible.
Please respond by Thursday, May 10.
Wishing you a Happy Shavuos,
The Flower Project Volunteers
